Our team are currently working with a non-bank Trade Finance house to recruit for a Business Development role in Gauteng.
Remuneration structure: R60 000 – R80 000 per month plus incentives.
Estimated annual book size in year 1: R50 million in Trade Finance
The New Business Executive will be a dynamic, results-driven hunter responsible for identifying and securing high-growth businesses in need of trade finance solutions. This role requires proactive lead generation, relentless prospecting, and the ability to close deals with business owners and financial decision-makers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance sales environment, with a strong understanding of working capital, import/export financing, and risk management.
A proven track record in B2B sales in the Trade Finance or SME lending sector, exceptional negotiation skills, and a fearless approach to driving new business opportunities are essential.
Our client is looking for a genuine hunter, not a farmer.
What you’ll do
Reporting into the Head of Sales of this established financial services business, you will be tasked with new business development.
- Ability to understand a customer’s needs, requirements, challenges, opportunities and business practices and adjust sales pitch accordingly
- Ability to structure lending solutions in combination with various products
- Competent to deliver a sales pitch
- Maintaining and growing key relationships
- Ability to understand and read financial statements and structure lending solutions suited for the financial risk and position of the customer
- Good understanding of the credit life cycle and scoring process
- Ability to cold call and source new business and set-up new origination channels
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and directed
- Ability to build lasting relationships with clients
- Verbal and written communication skills
What you’ll need
To excel in this role, you will need the following
- Good general business knowledge and savvy
- Detailed product knowledge
- Detailed credit risk, legal risk and operational risk understanding
- Knowledge of secured lending products and the industry (including competing products, pricing structures etc)
- Experienced understanding of business financial statements
- Minimum 3 – 5 years proven track record in achieving sales targets at a head-office level
- Basic computer skills, and experience with CRM software and the Microsoft Office Suite
